Steve Belles
Varsity Head Coach

Steve Belles has been the head coach at Hamilton High School since 2006. During his eight seasons with the Huskies he has lead them to five state championships (2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012) and 3 Runner-Up’s finishes (2011, 2013, 2014). The Huskies were also region champions in seven of those Nine seasons. Following the championship in 2006, Steve was elected as the Arizona 5A Coach of the Year and after the 2010 season was voted the 24-7football.com Coach of the Year. Prior to Hamilton, Coach Belles was the head coach at Mountain Ridge High School from 2000-2005 and appeared in one state final game vs Hamilton. He was also the head coach at Desert Mountain High School from 1995-2000 and guided the 1997 team to a region championship. Coach Belles was also a part of two other state championship teams as a coach for St. Mary’s High School in 1991 and 1995.

Coach Belles was born in Phoenix, AZ in 1966. He attended St. Mary’s High School from 1982-1985. As the starting quarterback for the Knights he led the team to a state championship in 1984 and was selected as the Arizona High School Player of the Year. He accepted a football scholarship to play at the University of Notre Dame where he played a variety of positions (QB, RB, and WR) under legendary coach Lou Holtz. He also was a member of Notre Dame’s last National Championship team in 1988. Coach Belles played professionally in Europe for the Revenna Chiefs in 1991 and later moved on to the Arena Football Leagues’ Arizona Rattlers in 1992. The following season he became the offensive coordinator of the Arizona Rattlers for one season before heading to the high school ranks to coach.

Deke Schutes
Offensive Coordinator Coach

Deke Schutes has been a member of the Hamilton coaching staff since 1998. He took one year off of the Varsity staff in 2006 to coach the Junior Varsity team. Coach Schutes has been the offensive coordinator for several years at Hamilton helping the Huskies varsity team win six state championships.

Deke Schutes attended Chandler High School from 1983-1986. During that time he led the Wolves as their quarterback. His father, Delvin, was the head coach at Chandler High School during that time. Following his career at Chandler, Deke went on to play quarterback for East Central University in Oklahoma from 1988-1991. He coached at McClintock and Chandler High School before coming to Hamilton.

Mark Tucker
Offensive Line & Weight Lifting Coach

Coach Tucker has been an assistant coach at Hamilton High School since 1998. He is currently coaching the offensive line with the Huskies. His coaching background includes being the offensive line coach and special teams coordinator for the Arizona Rattlers and the New Orleans VooDoo in the Arena Football League for several seasons. He currently works for the Phoenix Fire Department.

Mark was born in Washington in 1968. He attended Banning High School in Wilmington, California. Coach Tucker won multiple honors in high school including All-State Underclass Team as a junior, and Linemen of the Year (1986) as a senior. Coach Tucker then went on to have a celebrated career at the University of Southern California. He was a four year starter at offensive guard. He was named to the All Pac-10 team as a sophomore and senior. He was also awarded 1st Team All American Honors as a senior. Mark was a finalist for the Lombardi Trophy and Outland Trophy during his senior season. “Coach Tuck” was drafted in the 7th round by the Atlanta Falcons in 1991. He played with the Falcons, Colts, Saints, Jaguars, and Phoenix Cardinals during his NFL career. He then moved on to the Arizona Rattlers in 1997 and played for ten seasons that included an Arena Bowl XI victory.

Mike Johnston
Special Teams Coordinator, Wide Receiver Coach

Mike Johnston has been a member of the Hamilton High School football coaching staff since the school opened its doors in 1998. He is currently the wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator. Coach Johnston was an assistant freshmen coach from 1998-1999 and joined the varsity prior to the 2000 season. He was named offensive coordinator for the 2006 season in which the Huskies won their third state championship. He has assisted the special teams since 2000, but was officially named the coordinator in 2006. He has been a part of all seven of the Huskies 5A-1 State Championships. Johnston also coached for two seasons prior to Hamilton at South San Francisco High School in California.

Mike was born in Burlingame, California in 1972. He attended South San Francisco High School from 1987-1991. As a junior, Mike helped lead his team to a perfect 11-0 season, capturing the Central Coast Section (CCS) Championship. He was named the League Player of the Year following the 1990 football season and was voted as the San Mateo County Athlete of the year in 1991. Mike is also one of four players in the over 100-year history of his high school to have his jersey retired. Mike was also elected to enter the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame (Northern California Chapter) in 1991. He then accepted a scholarship offer to play football for Brigham Young University under head coach LaVell Edwards and offensive coordinator Norm Chow. During that time he earned all league honors as a return specialist and wide receiver for the Cougars and was a part of four bowl games. Following his senior season, Mike was selected as the “1995 Receiver of the Year” at BYU and was awarded the “Hitachi Promise of Tomorrow” national scholar/athlete award. He also played shortstop for the BYU baseball team for two seasons.

Craig Cobley
Safety Coach

Craig Cobley is back for his second stint with the Huskies. Coach Cobley originally joined the Hamilton coaching staff in 2006, when Steve Belles was hired. After 2 years on the staff he left Hamilton to pursue a business interest. While away from full time coaching, Coach Cobley stayed in touch with the program by being in the booth on Game Nights. Prior to joining the staff in 2006, “Coach Cob” served as an assistant at Mountain Ridge, and as Defensive Coordinator and Head Coach at Desert Mountain High. Prior to coaching in Arizona Coach Cob coach for several years at Burbank High and Crescenta Valley High in California.

Craig has been married to Sharon for 34 years and they have 3 daughters, Jessie, Sarah and Hannah.

Lane Reynolds
Defensive Coordinator Coach

Lane Reynolds has been a coach at Hamilton High School since 2003. Lane coaches the linebackers and is also the Defensive Coordinator. Since coming to Hamilton, Coach Reynolds has been part of Seven State Championship teams, Four Runner-Up teams and two Semi-Finalist teams. Prior to arriving at Hamilton, Coach Reynolds was the Head Football Coach at Desert Ridge High School while also making coaching stops at Highland High School, Mesa Community College, Corona del Sol High School and Flagstaff High School.

Coach Reynolds was born in Mesa, Arizona in 1969. He attended Corona del Sol High School where he played quarterback and safety. After graduating in 1987, Coach Reynolds attended Northern Arizona University where he played Safety for the Lumberjacks. He obtained a Bachelors Degree in History/Physical Education and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. Lane is married to Nicole, and has two boys, Ty and Cade.

Manny Palomarez
Defensive Coordinator

Coach Palomarez started coaching at HHS in 1998. He was the DC for the Huskies first 3 State titles. He had the opportunity to participate in the Bill Walsh minority coaching program for the Arizona Cardinals in 2007 (Super Bowl year).Coach Palomarez was born and raised in Chandler, AZ. He played for Delvin Schutes from 1983-86 at Chandler High . He then attended Phoenix College before moving on to East Central University in Ada , Oklahoma where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree. Coach received his Master’s Degree from N.A U.

Coach is married to the love of his life, Stephanie and they have an awesome little 4 year old, Tripp, who keeps us very busy.

Mike Maluski
Running Backs Coach

Coach Maluski joined the Hamilton High School football staff in 2004 as the defensive backs coach. Prior to joining the Huskies he was the coach at Marcos de Niza High School as the defensive coordinator (1995-2003) and as the head coach from 2001-2002. At Marcos de Niza he was awarded the AZ Cardinals Coach of the Week award and was voted the Region Coach of the Year in 2001. Coach Maluski also had stops as the defensive coordinator at Seton Caholic High School (1992-1994), Gililand Jr. High School (1988-1992), McClintock High School (1997) and in Fargo, North Dakota (1986).
Mike Maluski attended West Fargo High School in North Dakota where he was a defensive back on the football team. He also played basketball, golf, and baseball for the school. Unfortunately, he was involved in a major car accident that cut his athletic career short.

Anthony Parker
Cornerbacks Coach

Coach Parker has been a member of Hamilton coaching staff since 2006. He has coached one year on the freshmen level football. Since coming to Hamilton Coach Parker has been part of five State Championships teams, three runner-up teams.
Coach Parker attended McClintock High School in Tempe 1980-1984. Three years starter for the baseball and football teams. All-State performer as a senior in both sports, Player of the year for the 1983 football season. He received a football scholarship to attend Arizona State University where he was a four year starter at cornerback and punt returner. Member of the 1986 ASU Rose Bowl team who defeated the University of Michigan. All-Pac 10 selection as a junior and Jim Thorpe watch list as a senior. After tearing up his knee his senior year and going un-drafted he went on to have a 9 year NFL career. Played for the Vikings, Rams and Buccaneers retiring after the 1998 season. He also played one year In the World Football League where he earned All- League honors and shared Player of The Year. Married to wife Mary and has two sons that played at Hamilton. Colin graduated in 2007 with two state championships, Cedric graduated in 2011 with three state titles

Pat Quinn
Defensive Line Coach

Pat Quinn has been coaching football at Hamilton since 2001. He has coached at the freshmen, junior varsity, and varsity level in football. Coach Quinn is also currently the head wrestling coach at Hamilton. He has been coaching wrestling on and off for the past 15 seasons. He also took on the responsibility of becoming the head badminton coach for three seasons.

Pat Quinn attended East Rochester High School in New York. He graduated in 1989 and participated in football, wrestling, and baseball during his athletic career. He then moved onto Courtland State University to continue on his wrestling career. He graduated from Courtland State in 1993 before moving to Arizona. He has taught at the elementary school level, as well as at Desert Vista High School in Ahwatukee.

Kenny King
Freshman Head Coach, Defensive Line & Weight Lifting Coach

Kenny King is in his 4th year as the Varsity Assistant Coach working with the defensive line. Kenny King graduated from the University of Alabama in 2003 with a Bachelor degree in Business Marketing/Management. Kenny was a 4 year starter for the University of Alabama football program as a defensive end where he was awarded the All SEC Academic Athlete honor 3 consecutive years and the Verizon’s Academic All-American in 2002. He was also n 2 year All-SEC performer, and 2 year Alabama’s Iron Man award reciprocate during his tenure at the University. In 2003, he was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals, where he played defensive end for four seasons and defensive tackle for the Baltimore Ravens during the 2007 season. After 5 seasons in the NFL, Kenny suffered a career ending injury and he officially retired in 2008. Upon his retirement, Kenny focused his time and effort on being the President of X-Sell Media, a large printing and production company in Tempe, Arizona. In addition, he created Kenny King Charities to ensure that athletes focus on academics, while developing their football skills. In 2009, Kenny decided to expand the reach of his charity to other athletes in the Phoenix, Arizona Community by creating the Alliance Youth Sports Association.

John Melone
Quarterbacks/Tight Ends Coach

John Melone is in his fourth year in the program, he has coached both receivers and quarterbacks on the JV level. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Coach Melone assists with the video coordination and Hudl programs. Prior to coaching at Hamilton he has been a JV assistant, Head Freshmen Coach, and Varsity Assistant at Valley Vista High School.

Coach Melone played both football and basketball at West Chicago Community High School and went on to graduate from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He continued his education at the University of Phoenix with a master’s degree in Secondary Education. He is married to his wife Carly and they have two sons, Hunter and JT.

Justin Rosales
Linebackers and Def. Scout Team Coach

Coach Rosales is a third generation Chandler Unified School District alum. He enjoyed sports at an early age at his elementary school, Erie, and Jr. Highs Andersen and Bogle. He excelled both academically and athletically at Hamilton High School, before graduating in 2009. At Hamilton he played both baseball and football, earning many accolades and honors, including three state championship rings. Coach Rosales attended college on a four year sports scholarship, most recently graduating from Colorado Mesa University. Coach Rosales brings many positive contributions to the Hamilton Football Program. Most importantly, his background knowledge of the high expectations of the program, his ability to motivate and communicate with the youth, and his desire to continue the winning tradition of Hamilton Football

Tony Conrad
O-Line Coach

This is Coach Conrad’s first year at Hamilton High School. He has been coaching for 24 years in Arizona and in California. Coach Conrad is a graduate of Northern Arizona University. He has his Bachelor’s and Masters degree in Education. He also played at NAU from 1986 to 1990 as an offensive lineman. Coach grew up in Phoenix and attended Horizon High School. Tony is married for 17 years to Tracy and has three children: Hanna (16), Amanda(14), and Robert (10)

Clint Bragg
Offensive Assistant Coach/Scout Team Coordinator

Coach Bragg has been a member of the Hamilton High School Football Coaching Staff since 2014. Coach Bragg’s coaching responsibilities consist of coordinating the Defensive Scout Team and working with the Offensive Coaching Staff to develop a scouting report for each opponent.

Before starting a career as a Physical Education Teacher, Coach Bragg completed a four year enlistment in the United States Air Force as a Military Police/Security Forces Member. Coach Bragg started his coaching career as a Varsity Secondary Coach at St. Petersburg (Florida) High School in 2003. Coach Bragg and his family relocated from Florida to Arizona in 2009 where he had the opportunity to coach at Mountain Pointe High School and Basha High School as the Varsity Secondary Coach.

Greg Iseman
Statistics Coach

Coach Iseman has been a part of the Huskies coaching staff since 1998. He is in charge of keeping the Hamilton High School Football Statistics throughout the season. Coach Iseman provides coaches and players with a very detailed packet of statistics for each game. He also updates game, season, and career records. He does an outstanding job for the Huskies
